Finding your invitation

I can’t find my invitation

Invitations come from invitation@guestmark.co.za. Search your mailbox for that address or for the event’s name, and check your Junk and Other folders. Work email is often filtered before it reaches you, so the invitation may be waiting there. If your company holds messages in quarantine, your IT department can release it.

If it isn’t there either, ask the person who invited you to let us know, and we’ll check what was sent to you and send it again. Why invitations end up in Junk explains more.

The email looks broken, or the pictures don’t show

Many work mailboxes block pictures until you allow them. Use the View in browser link at the top of the email. It opens the same invitation as a web page, where you can read it and reply.

I got it on WhatsApp

Some events also send the invitation by WhatsApp, from GuestMark’s business account. The button in the message opens the same reply page as the email. You can use either one.

Replying

How do I accept?

Open the invitation and choose to accept. You’ll see a short form, usually your name and any questions the host has added, such as dietary needs. Fill it in and submit it. A confirmation appears on screen, and we send it to you as well.

How do I say I can’t make it?

Choose the option to decline, then slide to confirm. The slider is there because some company email security opens every link in a message to test it. Without it, that software could decline on your behalf without you ever seeing the invitation.

Is there a deadline?

Many events have one, and it’s shown on the invitation. After it passes you can no longer accept online, but you can still decline, which frees your place for someone else.

Changing your answer

Can I change my answer?

Open the same invitation link again. If the event allows changes, you can update your answer and your form there. Some events don’t allow changes once you’ve replied, and the page will say so. In that case, contact the host directly.

Bringing someone

Can I bring someone?

Your invitation is for you unless it says otherwise. If the host has made room for a partner or extra guests, the reply form asks for their names when you accept. The host sets how many people each invitation can bring. If the form doesn’t ask and you’d like to bring someone, ask the host.

Your calendar

How do I add it to my calendar?

Once you’ve accepted, choose Add to calendar. You can pick Google Calendar, Outlook (work or school, or a personal account), or Apple Calendar and other calendar apps. The event goes in at the local time it takes place.

On the day

When do I get my QR code?

Your entry QR code appears on screen as soon as you accept, and we send it to you by email. Where we have your mobile number, it comes by WhatsApp too. On the day, we send it again about two hours before the event starts, so it’s at the top of your messages when you arrive.

What do I show at the door?

Show the QR code on your phone and the team at the door will scan it. A screenshot works just as well.

My phone is flat, or I can’t find the code

That’s fine. The team at the door can find you on the guest list by name and check you in.

Your details

How are my details used?

We use the details you give us to manage your invitation and entry for this event, on behalf of the host. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep and how to ask for it to be removed.
